A 2D action-platformer that hearkens back to licensed games of the 2000s and early 2010s.

My contributions: Everything; this is a solo project. I programmed the game in Godot, composed the music using Furnace Tracker, and created the graphics using Aseprite, Inkscape, and Blender (The player and other important characters are 3D models with 2D heads, everything else is fully 2D).
The throwing mechanic was inspired by the game Ed Edd n Eddy: Scam of the Century, where defeated enemies can be thrown and ridden on in much the same manner. However, I thought that game made the mechanic slow and clunky (lifting and throwing had a long delay) and underutilized the mechanic overall, so for Break Week I’m making it both simpler/quicker to use and much more central to the overall game design.
My goal is to instill in the player a sense of playful freedom via the comical and seemingly broken nature of the throw-riding mechanic, while still making sure to keep it in check via careful level design. I also have found that the act of grabbing one enemy and throwing it at another is quite smooth, aided by the way throw aiming is influenced by the player’s current velocity; overall, I’m rather proud of how the throwing mechanic has turned out.
